perspectives of the boundaries of the
multinational firm. In organization theory, the
study of the boundaries of the firm has been
performed based on various theories, such as
transaction cost theory, resource-based theory
and knowledge-based theory. These theories
have been also applied in the study of the determination of the boundaries of the multinational firm. In particular, there are two
major theoretical perspectives in the study of
the issue: transaction cost/internalization theor
y and knowledge-based theory of the multinational firm. Each of these perspectives vary in their hypotheses concerning the major factor determining the boundaries of the multinational
