The sophistication of the Act itself is now on par with world standards. Yet during the 15 years since its revision, the Bank of Japan has borne the brunt of\nvarious criticisms, some of which point to the\nneed to review the Act. This study takes a historical look back on the revision of the Bank of Japan Act from political and economic aspects,\nand concludes that the success or otherwise of\nthe inclusivee political and economic reform\nserving as the background of the Act’s revision\nor, above all, the establishment of a reform philosophy, had an impact on the evaluation of\nJapanese central banking system reform.
